An array of active and passive safety systems as well as structural enhancements have earned it the highest possible 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
ESC is a technically advanced chassis system that provides outstanding safety and vehicle control benefits. Working with ABS, ESC can apply individual brakes selectively to control oversteer or understeer as necessary to help the driver maintain control during extreme driving manoeuvres.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
ABS prevents wheel ‘lock up’ during forceful braking. This helps keep your car steerable and directionally stable, and reduces stopping distances on most surfaces
Traction Control System (TCS)
Designed to maximise the vehicle’s stability on wet and icy roads, TCS detects if either front wheel has insufficient grip, and adjusts drive force and brake force according.
Six airbags
For maximum protection in certain frontal or side collisions, the all-new Barina has the ability to deploy front or side impact airbags for the driver and front passenger as well as full length side curtain airbags for both front and rear passengers according to impact severity.

Occupant safety was an overriding objective in developing the all-new Barina which has been awarded the highest possible 5-star ANCAP safety rating as standard. An exceptionally strong structure combined with an impressive array of active and passive safety systems proves a small car doesn’t have to be small on safety.
Reinforced passenger safety cell
Structural integrity is critical to a vehicle's crashworthiness and the body-frame-integral (BFI), or unibody design of the new Barina provides an extremely strong, stiff body structure. The unibody design consists of a high-strength steel structure incorporating full-length frame rails and a safety cage in a single, welded unit. It is designed with front and rear crush zones engineered to collapse in a controlled manner to help absorb crash energy while protecting the integrity of the safety cage in the event of a collision from virtually any direction.
